Doctors

We have a number of general practice associates who are established and regular members of the practice team.

Appointments for these doctors may be offered to all patients registered here and their appointments can be used interchangeably with those of your registered GP at the surgery. The GP associates are fully qualified and trained GPs.

Partners

Dr Adnan Malik – General Practitioner Principal

(Male) MBBS, LRCP, FRCSE

I qualified in 1979 and have worked in various hospitals. I did my GP training locally and completed this training in 1993 and have been at the Benhill and Belmont GP Centre since 1996. My special interests are minor surgery, care of the elderly and occupational health.

Dr Jeffrey Croucher – General Practitioner Principal

(Male) MBBS (London 1989) FRCGP DCH DRCOG DFFP

I have been a GP Partner at the Benhill and Belmont GP Centre since 2003 and am also a GP Trainer and a GP with a Special Interest in Musculoskeletal medicine. I have also worked with Sutton Clinical Commissioning Group(CCG) as Locality Lead for the other local GP Surgeries. More recently I have represented Sutton CCG as Clinical Chair.

Dr Shazma Mawani – General Practitioner Principal

(Female) BMedSci, MBChB (2002), MRCGP, DRCOG, DCH, DFSRH

Dr Mawani qualified with Honours degrees in Public Health and Medicine from Birmingham University in 2002. She has worked at St Thomas’, Kingston and Croydon hospitals, undertaking rotations in Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Care of the Elderly, Obstetrics and Gynaecology before entering General Practice in 2006. Dr Mawani joined Benhill and Belmont GP Centre in 2012 and became a Partner in 2013. She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. She has a postgraduate teaching diploma from the University of Westminster and helps to train new GPs. Dr Mawani is married and has two children.

Dr Alenka Shaw – General Practitioner Principal

(Female) MBBS MRCP MRCGP DFFP DPD

I qualified in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 1994. I finished my postgraduate training in Internal medicine with gastroenterology and became a Consultant in 2001. After marrying a Scottish physicist, I move to the UK in 2003 and decided to become a GP. I did my vocational training in St Helier Hospital and took my membership exams for MRCP and MRCGP qualifications (2006) and family planning diploma (DFFP) during the same period. I gained further training in diabetes (Warwick University 2008) and in practical dermatology at Cardiff University (PDP Cardiff 2017). I worked locally before joining Benhill and Belmont GP Centre, becoming a partner in 2016. My areas of interest are diabetes, family planning and dermatology with dermoscopy.


GP Associates

Dr Hazel De Bono – General Practitioner Associate 

(Female) Bsc Hons, MBBS, MRCGP, DFFP, DRCOG

Dr Hazel de Bono graduated from Glasgow University Medical School in 1989. She completed her training there and worked for several years as a GP in Glasgow. After spending a few years abroad, she joined the team in 2003 as an Associate GP. She enjoys the daily challenges of general practice and caring for patients at every stage of life.

Dr Zahid Ataullah

(Male)

Dr Ataullah joined the practice in 2020. He completed the Graduate Course in Medicine at Cambridge University in 2011. Prior to this he studied Economics. He initially worked in the West Midlands and then carried out his GP training in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells before moving back to Carshalton where his family has been based since the 1980s. He enjoys Paediatrics but is happy to consult on all aspects of GP. He looks after a local nursing home as well as being involved in the roll out of video group consultations at the practice.

Dr Mehreen Tahir

(Female)

Dr Tahir completed her medical training at Imperial College, London in 2011 and completed her GP training in South London. She continued working as a GP in London and joined the Benhill and Belmont GP Centre team, in summer 2023. Dr Tahir has a specialist interest in Women’s Health, particularly the menopause  and is a experienced fitter of contraceptive coils and implants. She also enjoys helping patients look after their diabetes, trains junior doctors to become GPs in the practice and is a training programme director for GPs on the St George’s GP training scheme.
